IMG_1660Remember those floating arches I blogged about, oh so long ago?  They are finally anchored!  Anchored by columns, as all good arches should be.  Columns betwixt the arch tops and the floor, no less.

Saturday the carpenter and builder were both here, trying to figure out how to scribe the top of a fiberglass column to a hand textured ceiling, and not have any gaps…  Well, they done did it!  And we are ever so pleased.

These are the last of the large items on the house to be installed.  They give a finishing touch, and are the final demarcation of the interior space.  There’s now an actual entry way, and a hallway, though none of the views are blocked.

The columns are hollow, tapered fiberglass tubes, anchored to the floor and ceiling.  Sturdy enough, but I would not use them as a maypole or dance around them, as they are decorative rather than structural.  They give the house a classy touch.

  1. Things are certainly coming together into a home. It’s just a little odd though to see familiar items rearranged. I’ve never know anyone who had pillars before…pillars!
