Roasty Toasty

Standard

The fireplace has been installed.  We selected a wood burning one, with the option of a gas starter.  Since we have no idea what the winters will be like, this was playing it safe.  The thought being that even if there’s no electricity, we’ll have at least one room in which we won’t freeze.

I am often reminded that there are lots of things to expect in “country living” and apparently no power is one of them.  Of course, these reminders come from someone who heats with a wood stove in the winters…so there may be a bit of zealotry going on as well.

I worked with the builder to lay out the hearth, deciding on something that would reflect the ceiling arches.  This is what we came up with:Once it’s finished, covered in stone or tile, it will look pretty snazzy, don’t you think?
