Corn Woman

IMG_3470Anyone who’s lived in the Southwest for a while has heard the Native American story of Corn Woman.
Corn Mother.
Corn Maiden.
This is my small homage to that legend.

A necklace striking in it’s simplicity.  The ceramic pendant has a soft mustard glaze.  This is accented by fluted copper spacers, yellow glass druks and mustard jasper rondelles.  The mustard jasper beads look like corn kernels – not completely round, not completely centered.  They give the piece an organic quality.

You can read more about Corn Woman in the Pendobscot legend or the Cherokee legend.
