Snow Day

This was taken lastt week, when I celebrated my birthday with good friend Earin.  Nothing like having a nice tromp in the snow!

Note to the close observer – yes, my hair really is dyed to match the gloves and scarf.

For the meteorologically inclined – the snow is now melted.

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday to Me!

It’s one of those milestone birthdays.
One looks back and thinks, “How did I get here?”
One looks forward and thinks, “I’ve Got a Lot of Living to Do!”
Let’s Celebrate!

Fortune Teller*

Lassie grew bored with saving Timmy
time and time again (not to mention Timmy’s Mother and Father).
She was bored with saving the farm and the farm animals.
She was tired of fetching the Doctor and the Sheriff.
One day, she joined a band of Gypsies camped down by the old mill pond.
Here Lassie discovered her true calling and became a world traveler
and lived her own life.

Happy Birthday

to Me!

Today is my birthday, so Happy Birthday to Me!

My good friend Earin flew into town to help celebrate my birthday.  She flew in bearing gifts.  Lovely, beautiful, handmade gifts.  This is one of them.  A lacy hand knitted shell.  I sew.  Earin knits.   Earin knits beautiful, wonderful things.

The shell has this delicate lacy stitch at the top.

Even with the openwork, it’s quite warm with a t-shirt underneath.  For the knitters among you, I believe the yarn is a linen/cotton blend.  I have no idea of the pattern name, or yarn name, or color name…  Perhaps Earin will leave a comment and enlighten us?

Even the bottom edge is decorative.  There’s a scallop worked into the edge, which gives a nice heft to the bottom.  It is truly wonderous to have such a friend.
